What is the difference between myocardial ischemia and wolfe parkinson white syndrome?

  • Two completely different types of cardiac problems. Myocardial ischemia is decreased blood flow to the heart muscle (it precedes myocardial infarct or heart attack). Myocardial ischemia presents as chest pain typically diagnosed as angina.
Wolff Parkinson White is an electrical conduction problem in which the normal electrical pathway is not used and instead conduction is through an alternate pathway. It is seen on EKG as tachycardia with a characteristic delta wave after the PR interval and before the QRS complex.

  • myocardial ischaemia is insufficient blood flow and oxygen to the myocardium or heart mucle for whatever reason.. ie coronary artery blockage or an arrythmia.. WPW is a rhythm disturbance whereby there is an accesory conduction pathway causing the heart to occasional go into SVT or VF a rapid heart rate
